The designation “100% Blue Weber Agave” is a regulated classification established under Mexican law for tequila produced exclusively from Blue Weber agave. Based on its independent monitoring of Teremana’s production, Consejo Regulador del Tequila (CRT) has verified that it is distilled from only Blue Weber agave, warranting a “100% Blue Weber Agave” designation. Its production is overseen and certified by the CRT, Mexico’s official tequila regulatory authority, and its labels were reviewed and approved through the U.S. Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau’s Certificate of Label Approval process.
The lawsuit also relies heavily on a testing methodology that Mexican authorities responsible for tequila regulation formally rejected in 2025 as an unreliable means of determining the origin of alcohol in tequila.
In addition, the lawsuit challenges commonly used industry descriptions such as “Handcrafted” and “Small Batch.” Siete Bucks Spirits has consistently used these terms to describe its production methodology, quality standards, and approach to making tequila. As production volumes have grown, the company has maintained the same production processes, batch-level controls, oversight, and standards that define how its products are made.
